Recently returned to the good 'ole United States after spending winter break in Australia with my brother and sister in law. Just as good a trip the second time! (We went last winter break for a visit as well).
While there was a lot more Australia-type sightseeing last year with all of the Australia animals and such, this year had its own style of fun: lots of beach time! (of course), some trips to Fremantle, a sailing excursion, Christmas in the summer, and some stand-up paddleboarding. And that was just the first week!
After leaving Scarborough (just outside of Perth on the western coast), we made our way to Sydney to prepare ourselves for some fantastic New Years Eve fireworks! We found a nice spot to view from on Observatory Hill and could see the Sydney Harbor Bridge lit up with explosives for a good 12 minutes. It was pretty incredible.
Following New Years included four days of sightseeing! Our first stop was a little French Patisserie that my brother had found on their last trip to Sydney. He didn't dissapoint or oversell the delicious Ham & Cheese Croissants in the slightest! Other items on our itenerary included a 2 hour sightseeing ferry ride around the harbour, a trip to Taronga Zoo, the first day of Australia vs. West Indies in cricket, some time at Darling Harbour, and a day exploring Bondi Beach.
It was a lot packed into 2 and a half weeks, but was definitely worth it. As sad as it is to see vacations come to an end, it is always good to be home.
